Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 17th 2015: Equity market cap rises by XOF 62 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Wednesday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 271.02 to 274.41 points, a gain of 1.25%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.92% to 275.29 against 272.77 points previously. Equally, the equity market capitalization gained by XOF 62.20 billion to close at XOF 6,792.94 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,730.74 billion.
Looking at the market activity, the total volume was recorded at 3.612 million compared to volume of 193,161 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 834.678 million (against XOF 422.711 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 31 securities via 246 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 3.582 million traded shares (accounted for about 92 percent of the total volume) and PALM COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 169.227 million (accounted for almost 21 percent of total turnover). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 127.43 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.76.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 31 traded securities there were 14 price gainers, 11 laggards and 6 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end positive. The price leaders were CIE COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 75,250 and SIEM COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 7.48 percent to conclude at XOF 28,750. Likewise, NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE appreciated by 4.87 percent to settle at XOF 56,000 and ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo added 3.77 percent with a closing price of XOF 55.
Contrary, UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 6.47 percent to trade at XOF 31,800 and FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 4.94 percent to close at XOF 25,000. Likewise, ONATEL BURKINA FASO and BANK OF AFRICA COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 3.26 percent (to close at XOF 8,600) and 3.03 percent (to close at XOF 96,000) respectively.
From sector viewpoint, industry sector index tumbled by 1.01 percent and agriculture sector index went down by 0.09 percent. On the contrary, public utilities sector index rose 1.06 percent to close at 730.76 points. Equally, financial services sector index rose by 2.02 percent and transportation sector index surged by 0.04 percent. While miscellaneous sector index remained flat.
